1: Write Unique Content

No matter what the search engine is, the content is still the main. Search Engines Always give priority to sites that provide complete and relevant topics. More importantly, Yandex seems to be stricter than Google in terms of content quality! Especially in terms of copying, over-optimization, and spam.

Yandex regulates content quality through at least two algorithms. One of them is the AGS filter, which was introduced to identify repetitive and low-quality content. Therefore, it can compare with Google’s Panda algorithm.

Yandex never revealed the meaning of the AGS abbreviation, but many people think it means “Anti-Shitty-Sites.”

With its earlier version, this algorithm penalizes websites with sparse content by pulling out index pages. Then, in 2014, it began to cancel the site’s TIC (Quotation Subject Index). TIC is similar to Google’s PageRank.

Yandex uses TIC scores to analyze the popularity of a website. TIC Scores range from 0 to 150,000 (Google Pagerank is from 0 to 10). Therefore, when punished, the site becomes less evident in SERP, but it is still indexing.

You must create high-quality content. There is no other way. Of course, the quality here means that you are not writing content for search engines, but mainly to satisfy your readers.

Note: If your target users for the Russian market, please ensure that your content is written for Russian users. Otherwise, it will eventually lead to a poor user experience (this is important for Yandex Search Engine).

Use relevant internal links to make visitors stay on your website longer. Also, link to other authoritative sites to show that your information is valid and valuable.

Provide a clear structure for your content for easier understanding and include visual information such as images, infographics, videos, etc.

2:Domain age

Domain age is always an important factor for any search engine. It feels good when you have a website with a good history and reputation, but when you start a new website, especially when it has a few pages, it is very troublesome. Ranking high for new domain names may face enormous challenges.

First of all, if your newly launched website does not get a high ranking in organic search, don’t worry. Most likely, you did nothing wrong; you just have to wait.

If you plan to launch a new website, please consider buying an older domain name, which will be regarded as more credible from the beginning.

3: Geolocation

As we all know, Yandex Search Engine gives high priority to geolocation search. Although local search engine optimization plays a role in most search engines. Users from different parts of the country see the results more or less similar. This is not the case in Yandex.

In terms of products or services, in most cases, users from different regions will see different search results.

Although this situation creates perfect conditions for promoting local business. On the other hand, it is more difficult to locate multiple locations. However, if your website is optimized for Google, then you should know that Google is not good at promoting between specific regions of the CIS countries.

Even if you are interested in a region, you must target the entire country. Therefore, Yandex is a better choice here.

  • First, determine the target area.
  • Specify your region in Yandex Webmaster Tools.
  • Submit your business to Yandex Business Guide.
  • You can specify up to 1 region.

Note: When you set up a specific area in the Yandex webmaster, it is just a request and does not mean that the search engine will fully follow this guide.

It is not only to determine the IP address of the target area. Some strategies can help Yandex search robots to render your website for the area you are targeting:

Include your company’s full address on your website, for example, company name, country/region, city, street, postal code, phone number.

If your company is located in a few areas, please do not worry, please specify all the complete address, Yandex Robot will determine your business covers several regions.

If your website contains a lot of information about regional offices, please use subdomains. Include zone-specific keywords in the tags of such subdomains, such as titles and h1-h6 and URLs and content. And make sure to include regional subdomains in the navigation of the leading site.

Note: If you don’t target any specific region, you don’t need to specify an area, and your website will not be affected by geographic targeting.

4: Yandex Search Engine Care Meta tag

The Yandex search algorithm also focuses on meta tags, but Yandex is considered to be stricter. Even if there are no such severe mistakes, also the website can be punished. This means that if you optimize the label, it must be done in a very straightway.

Some things are unique to Yandex label optimization. Try to follow them successfully:

Title and description tags: The title in Yandex may be longer than the title in Google, but for security reasons, about 60 characters are reserved. The description should be 160 characters. Like Google, Yandex can ignore your description and display different blocks of text based on the query.

If your title and description tags are created automatically, please check that they are of good quality. If not, your pages may disappear from the SERP because search engines think they are of poor quality.

Meta keywords: Yes, this tag still has an impact on Yandex. Add some target keywords per page.

URL: Yandex Search Engine understands the Cyrillic alphabet(Russian Characters) and Latin characters. Please note that Russian speakers prefer to use Cyrillic web sites.

Canonical tags: These tags work the same way as Google, and they help avoid penalties for duplicate content when you have similar pages. However, if you specify “rel = canonical, “it is not Yandex’s order, it can ignore it.

5: Importance of Backlinks in Yandex Search Engine

Although backlinks play a significant role in Google Search Engine, but it is shocking that Yandex eventually cut backlinks in the ranking mechanism. Of course, this does not mean that you do not need to participate in link building.

However, the obtained link is only valuable when it brings traffic. Otherwise, no matter what the source of authority is, there will be no difference if there is no traffic.

More importantly, if you try to improve your ranking by spamming links created just to influence the search algorithm, Yandex will find you and kill you with the help of the Minusinsk algorithm.

One solution is to get high-quality links that can bring traffic to your web pages. The most reasonable way is to get links from websites related to your niche.

6: Yandex Search Engine Take Time to Index

As a big company, Google has a unique algorithm to index fresh content quickly. But Yandex is different here, and results here are more static.

Yandex crawler visits static pages and blog posts several times a month or several times a day. This means that it may take some time before indexing your new content.

Submit new content through the XML sitemaps in the Yandex Webmaster to support the indexing process.

Please be patient. If you do not see the results of your Yandex SEO activity, please do not give up too early.

Yandex is working hard to solve the search intention more accurately by continuously improving the search algorithm. In 2016, they launched their Palekh algorithm update, which uses machine learning to process long-tail queries and find related pages.

In August 2017, they released a new version of the search platform based on the Palekh neural network. The platform is named Korolyov, which is located in the Russian town in northeast Moscow, which has been the center of Russian space exploration.

Yandex far surpasses Google in indexing websites in Russia. Yandex has a small and responsive customer service team. If you suspect that your site has been punished, you can write there and will most likely receive timely feedback.
